Summary
Contrans Logistics' second project, an Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Baroda in central Gujarat, is a planned 140-acre greenfield site to provide warehousing and logistic services for road and rail freight on the Delhi-Mumbai corridor.
The ICD has received both in-principle approvals to set up a private freight terminal and authorisation from the Ministry of Railways to construct a siding to connect to the main railway network. Construction is not expected to commence until an anchor customer has been identified.
The site is located between a National Highway and the main rail line providing direct connectivity from Delhi to Mumbai and surrounding hinterlands in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra states. Indian Railways plan to develop a Dedicated Freight Corridor to handle projected increase in cargo, and it is expected that the ICD will also have access to this new line.
